THE PHOTOGRAPHY OF FORD ROBBINS
Ford Robbins (www.fordrobbins.com) makes fine art black and white prints using all camera formats. Traveling with his camera throughout the southwest he searches for different perspectives. His frequent exhibits have landed his work in many public, private, corporate and religious collections. Ford is also represented by galleries throughout the western United States.
I asked him to talk about his work and here is what he had to say: "I live in harsh terrain and I photograph the rocky, rough and desolate places of my home. It is the mystery of the silence of these places that interests me. I seek touchstones and symbols. I find that details define the spiritual aspects of this terrain more clearly than the broader view. As I photograph I am consciously aware of space, time, light, form, movement, texture, place, and silence. I like to work with each of these elements. My goal is to cause the viewer to pause, consider and, perhaps, gain a sense of our connection with the earth and our universal oneness."
